Teflon

Teflon is a registered trademark and brand name of the DuPont company for products made from three types of fluorine-containing Polymers (fluoropolymers).

  • Teflon-PTFE is a polytetrafluoroethylene used in GoreTex and nonstick cookware, and also as a high-frequency, high temperature dielectric/insulator for electrical wires and coaxial cables.
  • Teflon-PFA is a perfluoroalkoxy used to make chemical-resistant Tubing.
  • Teflon-FEP is a fluorinated ethylene propylene used as a high-temperature insulation for wires, an extrudable substitute for PTFE with some compromise in performance and temperature.
