ROHS Directive

RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU has restricted the use of 6 hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products since 1st July 2006. These 6 substances and the limits for their use were:

• Lead (Pb): 0.1% by weight
• Mercury (Hg): 0.1% by weight
• Cadmium (Cd): 0.01% by weight
• Hexavalent Chromium (Cr VI): 0.1% by weight
• Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): 0.1% by weight
• Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): 0.1% by weight

Directive 2015/863 was published in 2011 by the EU, which is known as RoHS 3. RoHS 3 adds four additional restricted substances (phthalates) to the list of 6:

• Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP): 0.1% by weight
• Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP): 0.1% by weight
• Dibutyl phthalate (DBP): 0.1% by weight
• Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP): 0.1% by weight
